State Parks
Stone Mountain State Park
Located a short drive from Jonesville, NC on Highway 21. 20 miles of designated trout waters, 18 miles of hiking trails, horseback riding, camping, backpacking, rock climbing, and more.

Pilot Mountain State Park
Located in Pinnacle, NC in the eastern portion of Surry County. The park provides rock climbing, walking trails, horseback riding, camping, and fishing.

Yadkin Memorial Park
Located in Hamptonville, NC is the site of Lake Hampton, featuring a 135-acre lake for fishing from two piers or by boat. Visitors can also walk or jog on the trail system.

Rivers & Lakes
Yadkin River is one of the longest rivers in North Carolina and forms the county border between Yadkin and Surry counties. Recreation on the river includes fishing, tubing, kayaking and canoeing. Camping spots are also available along the river.
Fisher River flows through Surry County coming from Grayson County, Virginia before emptying into the Yadkin River. Hatchery supported for those looking for fishing opportunities.
Mitchell River flows out of Alleghany County and through Surry County before dumping into the Yadkin River just east of Elkin. Many fishing opportunities are available including excellent fly fishing.
Lake Hampton offers fishing, a playground, nature trails, boating, picnic shelters, canoe and paddle boat rentals on site. You may also rent out any of the picnic shelters for any of your special occasions.

Trails
Jonesville Greenway
A trail from Bluff Street to about one mile east of I-77. Eventually the plan is to extend the trail to a 32-mile stretch ending in historic Rockford.
Over Mountain Victory National Historic Trail
A 330-mile trail through four states – Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina with a trailhead in downtown Elkin. 3.75 miles of walkable trail is available to follow the footsteps of our ancestors.

E&A Rail Trail
Begins at the Elkin Municipal Park and travels northward toward Stone Mountain State Park. The trail follows the rail bed of the historic Elkin & Alleghany railroad.

Mountains-to-Sea-Trail
Covering 1,150 miles from the Outer Banks and comes right through the Yadkin Valley with a portion of the trail being Main Street through historic downtown Elkin.

Jonesville Jubilee
Held the first weekend in May each year, celebrating the town’s history and heritage with music, a 5k run/wal, crafts, exhibits, sky divers and ending in fireworks. the celebration is held at Lila Swaim Park with free admission.

Merlefest
